I am a Psychotherapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in Culver City, California. I offer individual, family, and group therapy for adults, transitional age youth, adolescents, and children. I believe a sense of trust, safety, and security are fundamental to the therapeutic process and necessary for success. My work centers on providing empathy, compassion, and understanding in order to establish a positive and secure therapeutic relationship and a caring, healing environment.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Honors Theater Arts from Clark University in Massachusetts, graduating summa cum laude and as a Phi Beta Kappa member. Prior to receiving my Masters in Social Welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), I worked as an Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapist with children (aged 4-12 yrs old) on the Autism spectrum as well as a Theater Arts and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor. While attending UCLA's Social Welfare Program, I interned at Weingart Center in Downtown, Los Angeles providing individual and group counseling to homeless men and women suffering from co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. I also interned at Women Helping Women, NCJW-LA (currently known as Community Mental Health and Supportive Services) located in West Hollywood and provided weekly individual, family, and group psychotherapy to adults, children and teens.
Upon graduating from UCLA, I continued my work at NCJW-LA in the Mental Health and Community Services Department as a Psychotherapist and the Psychiatric Services Coordinator. I continued providing long-term weekly psychotherapy to children, teens, and adults with a variety of clinical needs, including: anxiety, depression, low self esteem/ self-worth, identity issues, relational and family problems, parenting concerns, domestic violence, childhood abuse, sexual assault, trauma, and grief and loss. I also helped develop and ran the Psychiatric Services Program which provided linkage and financial assistance to high-quality psychiatric care for in-house clients. Additionally, I served as a Field Instructor, in which I provided training and clinical supervision for master-level social work interns.
I have a great deal of experience working with trauma survivors, including those who have experienced physical, sexual, and emotional abuse/ assault in childhood and adulthood. I am certified as a Level I Sensorimotor Psychotherapist which is a mindfulness and somatic based approach to resolving trauma symptoms. I also have an extensive amount of experience in working with children. I work closely with the child's family members and utilize play and expressive art techniques to help children process their feelings and express themselves as they reach their therapeutic goals. Additionally, I have worked with many young adults transitioning from adolescence into adulthood and take great joy in helping them gain deeper insight and self-awareness; address relational difficulties with family, friends, or partners; work through the challenges of navigating life transitions; and set and accomplish positive, healthy life goals.
Being a therapist is a tremendous privilege for me and I would be honored to be a part of your journey.
